Chapter 6 Set Up Person
____________________________________________________________________________________________
The "Set Up Person" screen (below) is the logical starting place for calculating most assessments.
It also has access to the "clear" and "save" data functions and the "Time on person" timer.
How to Use This Screen:
If you have been working with a previous person's assessment you can first either:
1) save the data (using the "Save/Recall" button) Note: You can save only one persons data within Nutrition Assistant.
and/or
2) you can clear the current data fields on all screens before starting the new person's assessment. To do this use the "Clear" button or the blank buttonat the top of the screen. .
NOTE: You should normally use the "Clear" button (at 1:B) before starting a new assessment on a person. This will assure that no remaining values associated with the previous assessment are appearing in the new or current assessment.
3) Fill in the fields on this form. Note that the "Name" and "Birthdate" (but not the Age) fields are optional. If you have a question about one of the fields, see the line by line explanation for this screen which follows.
4) Once you have filled in this screen select the next screen button to advance to the next screen (normally the IBW/BMI screen).
Line/Field Explanations
Line 0: See Chapter 3 "The Way Things Work" for details on the standard screen buttons .
Line 1: "Clear" button. The "Clear" button will clear (blank and/or zero) all the internal data about the currently displayed person. A confirming message is displayed which asks if this is really what you want to do. Answering "OK" will clear the data. Note: This "clear" function does not clear the "saved" data. This means you can save one person and work on another person then recall the previously saved person. "Save/Recall" button. The "Save/Recall" button when tapped takes you to the Save/Recall screen for saving a
current assessment or recalling the last saved assessment data. Note: You can only save one person's data.
Line 2: "Name" field. The "Name" field is for documenting the person for which you are currently doing an assessment. It is purely for documentation purposes at this time. If you enter a name and later save this person to the "save" buffer you will know who is saved because this name will appear on the "Save/Recall" screen.
Line 3˝: "Sex" field. The "Sex" field is for documenting the person's gender. To change gender showing tap the button following the field (the button will have a "M" or "F" in it).
Line 5: "Birthdate" field. Tap the button on this line to access the "Age from Birthdate" screen. Use the Age from Birthdate screen for both specifying a person's birthdate and calculating his or her age.
Line 6: "Age(Years)" field. The "Age(Years)" field is for documenting the person's age. If you entered a birthdate using the "Birthdate" field (through the Age from Birthdate screen) then age will have automatically filled in this field. You may specify the age directly in this field if you do not know the birthdate of the person.
Lines 7 & 8: "Height" and "Weight" fields. Use the "Height" and "Weight" fields for documenting these measurements for the person. To convert from one unit to another tap the units label. As with these fields through out the system; once you enter a value one place it will automatically be transferred to all later screens in those same units i.e. inches.
Line 11: "Assessment as of:" field. The "Assessment as of :" field is for documenting the date on which this assessment took place. Thus if you measured a person's weight a week ago then you could enter this date. Tapping the field will bring up the palm calendar for date entry.
Line 12: "Time on Person" button. The "Time on Person" button updates and displays the time you've spent since you "cleared" the data. This is handy for documenting for yourself how long it takes to do the calculation of assessment numbers for one patient.
